Our vision is that all Minnesota children in child care and out of school programs will be cared for by skilled and knowledgeable practitioners trained to work with young children, youth and families.

If you share this vision we encourage you to become involved with the Professional Development Council.  Check out our Calendar of meeting times or contact us for more information.

Welcome to The Minnesota Professional Development Council’s website!

One fundamental component of quality care for Minnesota children is professional development, helping people working with children to advance their skills and knowledge.

The Minnesota PD Council brings together professionals from all parts of the early childhood and school age care and education fields to dialogue, build relationships, communicate about current work, and build a strong, inclusive, comprehensive professional development system for all of Minnesota. Learn more about our mission, vision and history at About us.

The Minnesota Core Competencies were developed by the PD Council and MnAEYC to define what practitioners need to know and be able to do to provide quality education and care.

Workgroups are the building blocks for the PD Council’s work, where small groups focus attention on specific areas of professional development such as articulation, communication, core competencies, the executive committee, structure and professional practitioner development and delivery. ....
