Transitions
|
As we are moving from the ice cold of a Minnesota winter to the warmth and beauty of the springtime, so go the transitions of life. We are sad to announce that Meg Thomas will be leaving MnAEYC after two years of work with the Minnesota Professional Development Council. Meg invested in building and growing relationships. Most recently her outreach in articulation, her work with family, friend, & neighbor care, and her work with the Practitioner Professional Development and Delivery Workgroup has led the way in building the diversity of the Council. Meg also has built strong relationships with MnTRECC and has increased our awareness of the challenges that face the tribal communities and the understanding of these challenges as a community as a whole. Her awareness and ability to see challenges in our field from various perspectives have contributed to the success of the MnPDC. We truly have appreciated her patience and devotion to ensuring that all work of the Council is inclusive and reflective of the cultural communities of Minnesota. This work is slow and recognitions of this work are far between. Please take this opportunity to thank Meg for the work she has done with MnAEYC and the MnPDC. The staff and Board of MnAEYC wish Meg the best in her future endeavors.

"You may not recognize success when it happens. It’s not always the thing you expected it to be. Looking back, you will realize that there are successes to be recognized and joy to be seized in every day." - Elizabeth Keane
I will be leaving my position as professional development coordinator as of March 30 of this year. I’ve really enjoyed my work with the council, especially the interactions with all of you. I’ve learned so much about professional development systems in the last 2 years. Many of you have taken the time to share what you know with me. It’s hard to express how much I’ve appreciated all of your help and support.
I’ve found however, that I really miss teaching and training and am ready to return to a job that involves more direct contact with practitioners. Since the council isl stable and moving forward in many areas this seems like a good time for me to move on and pass the work of facilitating the council on to someone new. Meg Thomas
